SEN Leadership training
Description
Inclusion by Design: Leading Effective Mainstream Provision (SEN Leadership 1)
Aligned with current reform, the session explores how schools can develop sustainable systems that enable inclusion to move beyond individual intervention and become embedded within everyday school practice.
Participants will explore:
• balancing inclusive ambition with operational and financial realities
• how ordinarily available provision, adaptive teaching, targeted support and enhanced provision work together within a graduated response
• strengthening leadership accountability for inclusion across the whole school
• creating coherent systems that support staff confidence, consistency and pupil belonging
The session will include practical examples, strategic reflection and opportunities for leaders to evaluate the strengths, risks and next steps within their own inclusive provision.
Leading Through Complexity: Inclusion and Culture (SEN Leadership 1)
Inclusive leadership requires both strategic clarity and strong relational practice. This session explores how leaders can create school cultures where belonging, high expectations and accountability sit alongside empathy, reflection and professional trust.
Participants will reflect on how leadership behaviours shape staff confidence, consistency of practice and the day-to-day experience of inclusion across school life. The session will also explore how leaders can navigate increasing complexity, support emotionally demanding roles and maintain a clear and sustainable vision for inclusive practice.
Through practical reflection and professional dialogue, leaders will consider how culture, communication and leadership presence influence the successful implementation of inclusive systems and change across a school community.
Compassionate Leadership in SEND: Building Resilient Teams (SEN Leadership 3)
Designed for school leaders and inclusion leads, this session explores how emotionally supportive environments and reflective practice can strengthen staff wellbeing and resilience in roles carrying high emotional demand.
Delivered in partnership with the Educational Psychology Service, the session will draw on approaches to reflective supervision, emotionally informed practice and sustainable team support within education settings.
Participants will consider practical approaches to mental health awareness, reflective supervision and staff wellbeing, while exploring how compassionate leadership can strengthen retention, morale and professional confidence across inclusive settings. The session will also provide opportunities for professional reflection on how leaders can support teams to navigate increasing complexity whilst maintaining relational and inclusive practice.
