The First Aid at Work qualification equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to act as a qualified first aider in high-risk environments, providing first aid to adults aged 18 and above. The course develops confidence in responding to a wide range of medical emergencies and workplace incidents, ensuring timely and effective care until professional help arrives.
Participants will explore:
- the roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- how to assess an incident and respond appropriately
- managing an unresponsive casualty, including CPR and use of an AED
- recovery position and emergency response procedures
- recognition and treatment of medical conditions including heart attack, stroke, choking, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes and anaphylaxis
- managing injuries such as wounds, bleeding, fractures, sprains and head or spinal injuries
- treating burns, scalds, poisoning and eye injuries
Through a combination of practical activities and scenario-based learning, participants will gain the confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations.
