Paediatric First Aid
Description
Paediatric First Aid qualification is the Ofsted approved qualification for adults who provide first aid for children aged 0-18. Successful candidates receive the Paediatric first aid qualification. The roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider; assessing an emergency situation; dealing with an unresponsive infant or child; recovery position; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs); choking; head and spinal injuries; fractures; anaphylaxis and allergic reactions; meningitis; asthma; febrile convulsions; seizures; diabetic emergencies; poisoning; burns and scalds; electric shock; external bleeding; hypovolemic shock; eye, ear and nose conditions; bites and stings; minor injuries; treatment for hot and cold body temperatures.
Important information for all candidates before attending this course:
- Full attendance is required. Course starts 9:30 ends 4:30
- Lunch is 30 minutes.
- Arriving late/leaving early may mean exclusion from the course/assessments and therefore the student is unable to complete the course, and is not eligible for certificate/qualification.
- Leaving the room during the course may lead to non-certification.
- Please carry out a personal risk assessment for the practical activities on the course.
- CPR MUST be demonstrated by kneeling on the floor in order to pass the course and receive qualification/certificate.
- There will be floor work, all candidates should wear loose fitting trousers, and appropriate foot wear
- All candidates are advised to bring photo ID, and inform the instructor if they have any serious health/ allergy issues.
