Duty holders within schools e.g. Site Officers, Business Managers, who have been assigned with legionella management responsibilities.
What does this event cover
Content:
- What is legionella and why we are concerned
- What can happen if water systems are not managed properly
- What are your responsibilities under the law
- How to manage the risks including practical exercise relating to your premises
Learning objectives:
- To understand what legionella bacteria are
- To understand the risks in premises and the outcomes if risks are not managed properly
- To have awareness of the legislation and guidance regarding legionella
- To understand your responsibilities
- To know how to manage the risks
Learning outcomes:
- To be able to have a general knowledge of legionella bacteria and their origin
- To be able to detail the diseases caused by legionella
- To be able to describe the risk factors associated with multiplication of legionella bacteria in water systems
- To be able to outline the legislation associated with legionella and the responsibilities of individuals
- To be able to understand how to manage the risks
- To understand the potential consequences if risks are not managed properly
