Literacy CPD

Description

Research shows that literacy is key to learning across all subjects in secondary school, and a strong predictor of outcomes in later life. In this hub, we will show you how to put research into practice through a range of practical strategies to use in your classroom.

This program will explore the research around embedding literacy across the curriculum and develop participants’ understanding of how to cascade their learning within their school.

The three sessions will look specifically at

  • disciplinary literacy
  • vocabulary instruction
  • reading and engaging with complex texts

The programme will use evidence-based research, including the EEF Improving Literacy in Secondary Schools Guidance Report.

The programme will take place over three afternoons. Participants will be expected to attend all three sessions, engage with tasks in between sessions and disseminate learning in their own setting. This program is suitable for current or aspiring leaders of practice as well as classroom teachers looking to develop their understanding of the role of literacy across the curriculum.
