Vocal sessions (3 across the year)
Relevant to Music Leaders, Classroom Teachers.
Description
This series of three CPD sessions supports teachers to develop high-quality singing provision in their schools. Suitable for practitioners at all levels, the programme builds confidence, strengthens classroom practice, and supports progression in line with the Model Music Curriculum.
Each session combines practical strategies, professional dialogue and opportunities to share repertoire, supporting participants to develop sustainable approaches to singing across the school.
Session 1: Choosing and Learning Songs
Explore how to select appropriate repertoire and teach new material effectively. The session focuses on strategies for introducing and embedding multiple songs over a term, while developing understanding of singing progression. Participants will also be supported to prepare for the Camden Choirs’ Festival 2026.
Session 2: Leading Singing in Large Groups
Develop confidence in leading singing beyond the classroom. This session explores how to structure effective singing assemblies and use them to support progression in singing across the school. Practical approaches to engagement and organisation will be shared.
Session 3: Celebration, Reflection and Planning
Reflect on the year’s work in singing and celebrate successes, including participation in borough-wide events. Participants will evaluate their practice and develop a clear strategy for singing in the coming academic year, identifying next steps for continued improvement.
Each session includes opportunities for song sharing, enabling participants to build a repertoire of practical, classroom-ready material.
