Building the foundations of phonics in nursery

This training session provides an overview of how the foundations for phonics are taught in Nursery. It will cover strategies for developing pupils' phonological awareness, including understanding rhyme, alliteration, syllables, initial and voice sounds, and oral blending.

The session will also focus on encouraging a love of stories and rhymes, supporting pupils in learning familiar favorites by heart. Additionally, it aims to help children expand their vocabulary, build confidence in speaking, improve listening skills, and engage in back-and-forth conversations.
