Camden KS5 Physics Network

Description

In the first of three sessions over the course of the 2024/25 academic year aimed at teachers of A-Level Physics, staff from the Francis Crick Institute, Flow Cytometry team will be presenting to teachers and helping to enrich their teaching with up-to-date and relevant science. Henry Hammond (Alexandra Park School) will then lead the second part of the session, linking to key aspects of the A-Level curriculum and leaving participants with practical strategies and suggestions to take away and use in the classroom. 

Core aim of the network. Provide ideas, stimulation, and challenge to increase attainment in KS5 Physics. Focus on lower attainers and ensuring all can access up to C grade.

Core physics T&L in this session. Definitions & language how do we support learning. Waves. Quantisation as a big idea. Linking topics, Piezo electric – waves & electromagnetism connection.

Timings

2:30-3 – Physics updates, 23-24 sessions recap, focus of the year

3-330, plus breaktime for Q&A – Flow Cytometry presentation

3:45-4:30 – core physics and T&L skills linked to Flow cytometry teams work
