Making the best start with phonics, ensuring effective provision for Early Reading and promoting vocabulary development

Description

This session will provide:

  • Support Reading leaders to be highly effective in their role
  • Provide an opportunity to observe a Reception and a Year 1 phonics lesson
  • Provide an opportunity to observe reading in Reception and Year 1
  • Ensure reading leaders, reception and Year 1 teachers have a good understanding of how to use assessment to deliver targeted Keep Up interventions
  • Identify provision for SEND pupils who cannot access the main phonics programme
  • Share information regarding the Wellcomm Speech and Language toolkit
